Operator-direct routes into Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and beyond

Africa is the market where route quality matters most. Operator-direct connections and grey routes sit side by side at very different prices, delivery rates differ by a wide margin, and a gateway that reports everything as delivered tells you nothing. Several regulators now require sender ID pre-registration, and traffic without it is filtered.

What is included for Africa

Operator-direct routes into Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and beyond

Nigeria — NCC

Sender ID registration required, with heavy filtering of unregistered traffic. MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile covered.

Kenya — CA

Sender ID registration through Safaricom and Airtel. Kenya has some of the best delivery quality on the continent when routed directly.

Ghana — NCA

Sender registration required, with separate treatment for promotional and transactional traffic.

South Africa — WASPA

Code of conduct compliance including mandatory opt-out and consent rules, enforced by the industry body rather than the regulator.

Operator-direct where it exists

We publish the route type per destination. In Africa the difference between direct and grey is the difference between 95% and 40% delivery.

Honest delivery reporting

Real operator DLRs with failure reasons. A route that claims 100% delivery across Africa is not reporting, it is guessing.

Indicative rate for Africa

Where you land inside the band depends on monthly volume, message category and route type.
